Cell Phone Policy

Reducing phone use in schools is essential for minimizing digital distractions and making space for stronger and more meaningful in-person connections. This policy isn't only about classroom instruction; it's about protecting the mental health and social and emotional well-being of our students at Monterey High School.

  • During class time, phones need to be in a phone caddy or left at home.
  • Phones need to stay in class during restroom breaks or when out on a pass.
  • Phones can be used during break, lunch, and passing period.
  • Consequences for Violations of Policy

1st Offense
Phone is confiscated and sent to the office. Student can pick it up after school.

2nd Offense
Phone is confiscated and sent to the office. Parent must pick up after school.

3rd Offense
Phone is confiscated and sent to the office. A parent conference will be scheduled with school administration.
